Why the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Could Be Just the Vehicle You’ve Been Looking For

Toyota consistently makes some of the best vehicles in the world. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the 2020 RAV4 is no exception. As far as a well-rounded, high-quality compact SUV goes, it really isn’t outdone by any other vehicle in its class. It has tons of standard and optional features. It’s safe, reliable, and efficient. It has lots of space for passengers and cargo. It’s top of its class in several categories. It has a beautiful design inside and out. You get the picture.

While one of its primary markets is families—U.S. News and World Report recently named it 2020’s Best Compact SUV for Families—there is much about the 2020 RAV4 to appeal to all varieties of drivers. Here, we will discuss some of the things that make this compact SUV such a solid choice, whether you’re starting a family, need a great vehicle for your morning commute, or simply want a vehicle that offers a little bit of everything.

From its unbeatable value to its abundance of features to its impressive lineup of trim levels, let’s break down the 2020 Toyota RAV4 so that you can decide for yourself whether it’s the right vehicle for you.

THE VALUE
If you’re looking for a compact SUV with great all-around value, it’s hard to beat the RAV4. Here’s why:

Reliability
No single auto manufacturer has a better track record with reliability than Toyota. Year after year, for decades, Toyota has been considered in the top two of all manufacturers for reliability, and the carmaker is showing no signs of giving up its perennial place on top. Indeed, reliability is one of the main reasons why so many customers choose Toyota; they know that their vehicle will hold up for many more years than models made by most other manufacturers. And there is no reason to believe that the 2020 RAV4 won’t be as reliable as other models in the past.

Resale Value
Going hand-in-hand with reliability, Toyotas typically provide elite resale value. Look in Kelley Blue Book any given year, and you’re bound to see two or more Toyota models ranked at the top for the money they bring to customers who resale them. For many customers, this is a big deal. After all, even if you never plan to sell your car, you never know when you might need to. Perhaps your family is growing, you get a new job that requires a longer commute, or your needs change in other ways; having a vehicle with high resale value will put you in a better financial situation for purchasing your next vehicle.

The Best Features for the Money
While there are less expensive vehicles on the market, it’s hard to beat Toyota when it comes to getting the most for your money. Reliability and resale value mean a lot, but Toyota models bring much more to the plate than those qualities. With every model, you get a beautiful design, great overall performance, comfort, safety, technology, and tons of other features that top—or at least rival—others in their respective classes. The 2020 RAV4 is no exception.

THE FEATURES
Here are some of the primary features offered by the RAV4, including ones that are new  for 2020 and ones that have been around for a while:

New for 2020
Perhaps the most exciting change for the Toyota RAV4 in 2020 is the addition of the TRD Off-Road grade to the lineup. This model comes stock with all-wheel drive, 18-inch matte black wheels, and Bespoke Falken Wildpeak Trail tires along with specially-tuned shocks, red coil springs, and suspension. Appearance-wise, the RAV4 TRD Off-Road sports dark fascias (front and rear),  as well as a two-tone color combo available exclusively for this grade (Magnetic Gray with Ice Edge). And, of course, drivers get several of the trademark “TRD” logos throughout the interior and exterior.
Additionally, all of the 2020 RAV4 grades receive Android Auto and SiriusXM capability as standard. The XLE grade now comes standard with driver’s seat power adjustment, the Adventure grade gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, and the Limited receives a premium JBL audio system.

The Inside
While the 2020 RAV4 has a sharp, appealing interior design to rival any of its competitors, the ergonomics and roominess of the cabin is perhaps its most impressive quality. With all the seats up, the cabin provides 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space. When you fold down the rear seats, which easily stow and fold flat, you get a whopping 69.8 cubic feet. That number places the compact SUV near the top of its class. Also, the RAV4 comes with a low load floor, making it easier to load and unload heavy items.

A mixture of soft and hard materials adorn the RAV4 interior. On the XLE Premium grade and above, drivers get a stitched padded dashboard and center console and faux-leather upholstery to go along with the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob. There’s also a unique shelf that runs along the front dash.

The Outside
The exterior of the RAV4 doesn’t pull any punches either; similar to many of its siblings, Toyota seems to have taken the compact SUV’s design to the next level in the current generation. Its rugged-yet-sleek styling leaves nothing to be desired, and the TRD Off-Road grade fits right in with the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota 4Runner. The 2020 RAV4 is available in nine solid finishes:

  • Magnetic Gray Metallic
  • Lunar Rock
  • Blue Flame
  • Blizzard Pearl
  • Super White
  • Midnight Black Metallic
  • Ruby Flare Pearl
  • Blueprint
  • Silver Sky Metallic

Additionally, the SUV comes with eight color combo options. On various models, the Ice Edge roof is available with the Magnetic Gray Metallic, Lunar Rock, Blue Flame, and Midnight Black Metallic finishes. The Midnight Black Metallic roof is available with the Magnetic Gray Metallic, Blizzard Pearl, Blueprint, and Silver Sky Metallic.

The Powertrain
While it may not have the top-of-the-line acceleration and punchiness offered by some of its competitors with turbocharged engines, the RAV4 holds its own when it comes to performance. The Dynamic Force 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. As far as compact SUVs with a non-turbocharged engine go, the 2020 RAV4 is near the top of its class for horsepower.

The engine is paired with the Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission, which yields a smooth performance and gets even smoother when Sport mode is engaged.

Safety Features
The standard safety features of the 2020 RAV4 are truly impressive. Each grade comes stock with a rearview camera and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 technology package, which includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Road Sign Assist.

Moreover, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued an overall rating of five stars for the 2020 RAV4, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) made it a Top Safety Pick.

Infotainment Options
Along with impressive safety features, the 2020 RAV4 has got it going on when it comes to infotainment. All grades come with a base seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, Amazon Alexa integration, and a 4G LTE mobile hotspot.

An eight-inch touchscreen is optional, as is navigation, the JBL premium audio system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Even without the infotainment navigation upgrade, drivers can use their compatible smartphone to run their navigation app through the touchscreen.

GRADES AND PRICES
While there are several Hybrid options for the 2020 RAV4, we will focus on the non-hybrid models. This leaves us with six trim levels, which Toyota refers to as “grades”: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, Limited, and TRD Off-Road.

SPECIAL PAYMENT PLANS AND INCENTIVES
Needless to say, the coronavirus pandemic has made a profound impact on millions of Americans. Along with health-related issues, the ongoing spread of the virus has brought about financial hardship for countless families, and it’s difficult to see how long it will last. This means that car sales have been down for virtually all manufacturers. In response, Toyota has come up with payment relief programs and sales incentives.

For current customers who make car payments through Toyota Financial Services (TFS) and Lexus Financial Services (LFS), Toyota is offering flexible payment arrangements, relief options, and payment extensions. These plans are primarily for customers who have been directly affected by the virus, such as through illness or loss of income.

Also, prospective Toyota customers in certain regions are being offered deferred first payment for 90 days, both on new and certified used models. Moreover, there are additional deals and specials going on at Toyota dealerships around the country. Contact us at Mount Airy Toyota to discuss what programs and incentives are available today!

Conclusion
It’s easy to see why the 2020 Toyota RAV4 is such a solid choice as a new vehicle. Whether you’re a growing family or just want a great all-around compact SUV, it very well might be the best option out there. And when it comes to deals and incentives, you won’t find a dealership that outmatches Mount Airy Toyota!
